Participants are asked to orally indicate which numbers go with symbols that are presented in a long string on the computer screen. The participant is given 120 seconds to call out as many numbers that go with the corresponding symbols as he/she can \u00e2\u0080\u0093 without skipping any. This test is administered to ages 8-85 and takes approximately three minutes. The Oral Symbol Digit Test is a measure of processing speed. It can be administered as an accommodation in place of the Pattern Comparison processing Speed Test for those with significant motor limitations in the upper extremities.", "id_user": "usr_4de5345b3b6a8", "id": "trm_50eb461d446e1", "type": "task", "conditions": [], "concepts": [{"id_concept_class": "", "creation_time": 1512660634058, "event_stamp": "2009-06-22T19:12:56", "def_event_stamp": "2009-07-10T21:06:32", "def_id_user": "usr_0000000000", "last_updated": 1512660634058, "def_id": "def_4a57ad588a6a5", "name": "processing capacity", "alias": "", "definition_text": "No definition submitted yet", "id_user": "usr_0000000000", "relationship": "ASSERTS", "concept_id": "trm_4a3fd79d0adf4"}], "indicators": [], "external_datasets": [], "implementations": [], "citation": [{"citation_pubname": "", "event_stamp": "2013-01-07T22:06:16", "citation_pmid": "", "citation_desc": "http://www.nihtoolbox.org/WhatAndWhy/Cognition/ProcessingSpeed/Pages/NIH-Toolbox-Oral-Symbol-Digit-Test---Age-8+.aspx", "citation_type": "CTM", "citation_url": "", "citation_comment": "", "id_user": "usr_4de5345b3b6a8", "id": "cit_50eb46d85c2f6", "citation_source": "Manual", "citation_authors": "", "citation_pubdate": "", "relationship": "HASCITATION"}, {"event_stamp": "2013-01-07T22:05:52", "citation_pubname": "The Clinical neuropsychologist (Clin Neuropsychol)", "citation_pmid": "21391150", "citation_desc": "Regression-based pediatric norms for the brief visuospatial memory test: revised and the symbol digit modalities test.", "citation_url": "http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/eutils/elink.fcgi?dbfrom=pubmed&id=21391150&retmode=ref&cmd=prlinks", "citation_type": "CT2", "citation_comment": "Via PubMed API", "id_user": "usr_4de5345b3b6a8", "id": "cit_50eb46c09f98b", "citation_source": "PubMed API", "citation_authors": "Smerbeck AM, Parrish J, Yeh EA, Hoogs M, Krupp LB, Weinstock-Guttman B, Benedict RH", "citation_pubdate": "2011 Apr", "relationship": "HASCITATION"}, {"event_stamp": "2013-01-07T21:58:23", "citation_pubname": "Archives of clinical neuropsychology : the official journal of the National Academy of Neuropsychologists (Arch Clin Neuropsychol)", "citation_pmid": "21555787", "citation_desc": "Test-retest reliability and practice effect of the oral-format Symbol Digit Modalities Test in patients with stroke.", "citation_url": "http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/eutils/elink.fcgi?dbfrom=pubmed&id=21555787&retmode=ref&cmd=prlinks", "citation_type": "CT2", "citation_comment": "Via PubMed API", "id_user": "usr_4de5345b3b6a8", "id": "cit_50eb44ff4eee4", "citation_source": "PubMed API", "citation_authors": "Koh CL, Lu WS, Chen HC, Hsueh IP, Hsieh JJ, Hsieh CL", "citation_pubdate": "2011 Jun", "relationship": "HASCITATION"}], "contrasts": [{"creation_time": 1512660666507, "event_stamp": "2013-01-07T22:04:45", "last_updated": 1512660666507, "name": "number correct", "id_user": "usr_4de5345b3b6a8", "id": "cnt_50eb467d50cab", "conditions": []}], "batteries": [{"creation_time": 1512660839429, "event_stamp": "2013-01-14T22:17:04", "website": "None", "last_updated": 1512660839429, "collection_alias": "None", "name": "NIH Toolbox Cognition Battery", "collection_date_introduced": "None", "collection_publisher": "None", "id_user": "usr_49a467bf4e0db", "collection_description": "This battery, recommended for ages 7+, consists of tests to assess Executive Function, Attention, Episodic Memory, Language, Processing Speed and Working Memory.", "id": "tco_50f483e0a6bf9", "flag_for_curator": 1, "relationship": "INBATTERY"}], "disorders": []}
